Midwifery Educators - Opportunities based in Hamilton and Bay of Plenty

About the role
Wintec’s Bachelor of Midwifery programme has a commitment to excellence in the teaching and support of midwifery students. This is your opportunity to make a real impact on our students’ experience as they learn and grow to become a registered midwife. Bring your professional midwifery knowledge and skills, good organisational skills and can-do attitude to shape and educate the next generation of midwives.
You will work with students to support their learning by teaching within our degree programme. You will facilitate student problem solving, reflection on practice and skills development. You will value working collaboratively in a team and ongoing development of your own knowledge and skills.
We have permanent full-time positions available in Hamilton and fixed term part time/casual positions available in Tauranga, Rotorua and Whakatane.
Are you an ideal candidate?
We are looking for Registered Midwives with at least five years’ experience who are passionate about midwifery education and have the following:
- NZ registration with current annual practising certificate
- Full drivers licence
- Confident with clinical, face to face and the online teaching environment
- Relevant teaching qualifications
- A passion for supporting students to succeed
- Good organisational skills in particular for securing practice placements
- Engaged in ongoing education; if you do not have a Master’s degree, you will have commenced postgraduate study and be interested in furthering your education and research.
Tauranga: 0.6 FTE (3 days/week/Wednesday to Friday) permanent clinical educator
Rotorua: 0.2 FTE (1 day/week, Friday) fixed-casual clinical educator
Whakatane: 0.2 FTE (1 day/ week/Friday) fixed-casual clinical educator
Hamilton: Two 1.0 FTE (full-time) permanent academic educators and one 0.6 FTE (3 days/week/ Wednesday to Friday) permanent academic educator
Academic appointments will be made at a level commensurate with qualifications and experience (equivalent to levels Lecturer to Associate Professor)
